Last week, from 24 to 26 June 2025, Dr. M.ª del Pino Palacios Díaz and Dr. Vanessa Mendoza Grimón, from the GEOVOL group, and Dr. Federico Antonio León Zerpa, from the CAFMA group, all of them researchers from the University Institute of Environmental Studies and Natural Resources (i-UNAT), participated in the XIV AEDyR INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS.
This congress is a forum specialising in desalination and water reuse.
On this occasion, the researchers of the GEOVOL group had the opportunity to present two works in the field of the reuse of reclaimed water, framed within the project "Canary Islands agriculture and irrigation with the presence of emerging pollutants: Implications from the One health concept‘ and financed by Caja Canarias Fundación and Fundación ’la Caixa‘, and the researcher from the CAFMA group presented his paper entitled ’Design alternatives for the configuration of reverse osmosis membranes to obtain chemical quality of desalinated water in compliance with RD3/2023", where he proposed how to optimise the design of reverse osmosis systems for seawater desalination plants, with different membrane configurations, to obtain the required permeate quality according to RD 3/2023 with the lowest possible energy consumption.
